We’ve been asked this over and over – Where do I find my Mailchimp API key? – so I thought it would be easiest to make a quick video.
Firstly though – what the heck is an API key anyway?
Put simply – it’s a piece of code that identifies an authorised connection between 2 applications, in our case, WordPress and Mailchimp but it could be Twitter, or Instagram… you get the idea. Here’s the ‘formal’ meaning:
An application programming interface key (API key) is a code passed in by computer programs calling an application programming interface (API) to identify the calling program, its developer, or its user to the Web site.
